Desktopography is a site I found a while ago which hosts some of the finest in desktop artwork on the net. The Desktopography site features a gallery for every year, each gallery including around 50 backdrops. Being a bit of caffeine driven geek a change of desktop is often refreshing and helps to set my mood, it’s the little things that count you know! Reference - http://desk08.customize.org/

Often before I really get my teeth into the mechanics of a project my time is spent plodding the net. Now by plodding I really mean research, generally after recieving a spec for a new project I’ll spend a good amount of time exploring other sites for inspiration and idea’s relating to the project.
This search involves 2 things; one, sifting through the clients competitors websites to get an idea what’s working well and what isn’t; two, the inspirational brain storming, this usually involves me referring to my depository of links to get the old cogs going. Now don’t get me wrong I am a creative, but I also understand the more idea's and visuals I can cram into my caffeine driven head, the better the final outcome, or so I think anyway. So enough yap and let’s get to my precious links!

Media Molecule owned by Sony has recently announced that little big planet 2 will not make it for Christmas (booo!). Officially the new ‘launch date’ is said to have moved to January 18th 2011. This is not cool, a feeling shared among the Molecule development team, but we are told this has been a necessary step to deliver a spectacular sequel to the LittleBigPlanet game series. A quote from the team said: "We've all been functioning like powered-up space ninjas and we are nearly there! Because we worship what we have made into our little sack-friends, and most of all we care for all our fans out there, we couldn't let you all get together until we knew we were giving you the greatest experience possible."

However, there was a silver-lining on the cloud of delay. The note also promises that, “we are going to find a way to offer more of you a flavour of LBP2 preceding to launch." Whether that means the game will be playable at some gaming events, or perhaps there will be a PSN demo on route, we are yet to find out.

"Is it better to be first or better to be perfect?"
Steven Johnson (Author) shares or rather shows his outlook on ‘Where Good Ideas Come From’. This promotes his new book in a creative video which I just had to share. Well known for his other publication ‘Everything Bad Is Good for You’, Steven tackles the question - Where Do Good Ideas Come From?
The 4 minute video takes snippets from his new book which gives a brief insight into his findings and experience towards the majority of good ideas. In essence what I took from his insights is a truly good idea takes time to develop and mature, as opposed to just happening.

"now reduced to a snail’s pace"
I’ve also been a victim of TalkTalk, the so called internet company. During the past months my old ISP Nildram (great company) got bought out by Opal Internet (TalkTalk). The official move to the isp happened about the 9th of Sept. Since then my internet speeds have been shocking! I would normally be hitting 4MB’s but was now reduced to a snail’s pace ranging from 1.5MB in the late hours to 1MB during peak times (Last week it even dropped for 10+ hours).
Since I am a home based web designer and avid gamer I picked up on this instantly, It was time for a isp change! This though wouldn’t have been the easy task I first thought. Initially I tried to contact them via their customer support email system requesting simply my MAC code. Eight Days later I got a response which was clearly a automated message trying to blag me off with answers not even relevant to my question. I sent another email back venting my frustration and have yet to receive any reply back.
