One of the hardest things being a freelancer is the management of my time and allocation of sufficient time for all that I am responsible for. I can tell you, it's very different from what someone on a typical day shift would be thinking about. Instead of simply managing their own tasks, you have several areas to cover and finding time for them all can be tricky. Especially when it comes to "billable hours" and prioritize tasks according to their value and necessity.
What’s been especially challenging lately includes phone communications - requests for information from potential clients and support for existing clients. Half an hour of conversation, once or twice a month meant nothing to worry about really. But last month alone, I easily sunk in about 12-14 hours of telephone chats to prospective and existing customers. Every hour spent on the phone equals hours of billable time was wasted. So, now I feel I must find a way to make calls without loss of job time, which results in loss of money in the long term.
